How it works

Everything Léa does for you

You speak, you make mistakes, you learn. Léa takes care of the rest.

1

You speak. Léa answers and corrects you.

You say something out loud and Léa answers with her voice. If you make a mistake, you see how to say it and why, explained in your language.

2

Practice your mistakes like a game

Léa saves every mistake you make and builds exercises from them. Get it right and she celebrates; get it wrong and she explains why.

3

72 guided conversations

From your very first hello to debating at B2. Your line is already written: you just read it aloud.

4

If your mind goes blank, she gives you ideas

"I don't know what to say" suggests three replies with their translation, and the Translator turns what you want to say into your level.

5

Your progress, always in sight

Your streak, your daily goal and your achievements: sentences spoken, conversations and mistakes you no longer make.

Why it works

Practice with no one judging you

The hardest part of a language is not the grammar: it is daring to speak. With Léa you can get stuck, repeat yourself and get it wrong as many times as you need. No one is watching.

  • Your mistakes, marked in your own sentence. You see exactly what went wrong and why, in English.
  • Made for English speakers. It catches the typical mistakes that come from translating in your head.
  • At your own pace. Léa adapts what she says to your level and helps you when your mind goes blank.

More anxiety, worse results

People who get nervous using the language tend to learn worse. 97 studies with nearly 20,000 people found this. It is a correlation: it does not prove one causes the other.

«I am building Palique so that practicing a language by speaking is easy, affordable and free of embarrassment. If something breaks or you have an idea, I would love to hear it.»

Frequently asked questions

Is Léa a person?

No. Léa is an AI trained to help you speak without fear: a character made so you can practice without embarrassment. She talks with you, corrects you and explains, but she can make mistakes. If something seems off, double-check it.

How is it different from Duolingo or ChatGPT?

Duolingo teaches with short exercises; Palique is for getting you to speak: you talk out loud with Léa about real situations. And unlike a general chat like ChatGPT, Léa is built for learning: she talks at your level, marks every mistake in your own sentence, explains it in English, saves it and builds exercises from it. Her instructions were tested with hundreds of typical learner sentences.

How much does it cost?

Getting started is free and asks for no card. Pro will cost US$6.99 a month, but it is not on sale yet: nothing is charged today.

Can I practice both languages?

With the app in English you learn French. In Spanish you can also learn English (US); each language keeps its own level and mistakes.

Are my conversations private?

We don't store your voice or your full conversations: only your mistakes, so you can review them. We don't sell your data and there are no ads. You can delete your account and everything of yours whenever you want. The details are in the privacy notice.

Is there a phone app?

Yes: Palique has an iPhone app and an Android app, and they'll be on the App Store and Google Play very soon (leave your email at the bottom and we'll let you know). Meanwhile, you can use it here, in your computer's or phone's browser: it's the same app, with your progress saved to your account.

What level do I need?

None: there is a "Starting from scratch" level, where Léa uses two- to five-word sentences and you always see the translation under what she says. When you feel comfortable, you move up to B2.

Your first conversation is waiting.

Free, no card, from zero. Léa is ready to say hi.
